Nature is a Priede's main source of inspiration and a bearer of peace. Forest, the most glamorous company of Latvia's nature - a renewable source of harmony for the emptied man of the day-to-day. Therefore, the concern for rebuilding forests is of paramount importance, and the artist's participation in forest planting and grooming services on his native Vidzeme has become an integral ritual of life every spring and every autumn. The painting contains a contrast between the naturally formed forest and the man-made schematically precise young stand, which is an invaluable contribution to balanced growth of the Latvian environment and society year after year.
